Izvorni znanstveni članak

Complexity of relations in monetary, credit and banking sphere cannot be considered from debtor-creditor relations betvveen economy and financial institutions, respectively monetary segment of these institutions. Nevertheless balance data do not discover the origin of credits and obligations, they give not only their absolute amount, but also discover relative meaning of different forms of financing, financial transactions and flows. Just this is already sufficient in consideration of necessary measures of monetary and credit policy. In Croatian circumstances the relations in monetary-credit sphere are pervaded with different influences of institutional measures, thus it is reasonable to expect a noticeable level of money issue centralization. For this reason we expose during discussion the monetary policy it used to be, contemporary situation in developed monetary systems of free currency and what it is like in Croatian circumstances. By this we want to give a critical retrospect to the existing situation as an incentive to consideration of how to direct monetary policy in order to raise the efficiency of economy.
