BUSINESS PROCESSES REENGINEERING IN LARGE CROATIAN FIRMS

Business processes reengineering is an important factor of survival and efficiency of firms in competitive conditions at the market.The initiator of reengineering process is management who recognized the objectives the realization of which will influence competitive capability of firm. Business process reengineering has been implemented in many firms during last ten years, and many researches have been done about efficiency of these projects. The purpose of this paper is the analysis of business project reengineering projects in large Croatian firms. The sample was selected from a group of 400 largest firms in Croatia according to their 1998 income. Since information technology is often initiator, bearer, and even a goal of reengineering, the paper examines their correlation and interactive influence. There are also analyzed methods and tools used in reengineering projects, main goals of projects, reasons for project initiation and reasons due to which firms do not plan radical restructuring of business processes.
